History

St. Antony’s High School (2010 - 11)
In today’s Global world, the importance of English cannot be denied and ignored since English is the most common language spoken everywhere.

Realizing this fact, at the request of many parents, St. Antony’s English Medium High School was started in 2010 – 11. Rev. Fr. Mariappa Gregory, Parish Priest of St. Antony’s Church, T.C. Palya was the Manager and Correspondent. Rev. Sr. Sagaya Mary, St. Anne’s Convent was the 1st Head Mistress.

The infrastructure of our school building is quite huge and beautiful with many spacious rooms. We also have a vast playground for our children to play.

We have a library, lab, auditorium and a computer lab well equipped. Staffrooms for the teachers, a conference room where regular gathering and meetings are held…

Our English medium high school has been affiliated to the Karnataka state board of education. This is recognized by Govt. the textbook used by our students are issued or prescribed by the state board. Students of std. X appear for the public exam conducted by Govt of Karnataka.

NIE MEET FOR PRINIPAL’S SEMINAR

NIE meet held in Lalitha Ashok hotel on 21th November 2013 for the discussion of promotion of science in which would be a best science platform for teaching science in an interesting way with the association of Science Ustav. It was all about how to make science more meaningful and interesting and make the students more research minded and enjoy science. Principals and the science teachers from various schools were invited for this special occasion.

The chair person for this occasion wasDr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the Biocon icon a lady whom India was proud to represent, the CEO of Biocon, who is known as the most influential person outside Europe and USA, she received Prestigious awards, the Padma shri award at the age of 35 years in 1989 and Padma Bushan award in 2005 for her pioneering efforts in industrial biotechnology.

Today’s students are known as “Thei-pad generation” where most of the learning process is through technology.Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw was a well known Indian icon. She was an ex-student of bishop cotton girls school (Bangalore) and finished her higher studies in aboard presented herself with a warm and a welcoming smile, addressing her view about the education and technological uses in education. According to Dr. Kiran Mazumdar “All challenges are high points. Failing is only temporary, but quitting is permanent. It’s okay to fail and pick up the pieces to start again, but if you quit its suicide”. And also gave us a feed back of how students of today’s generation are tech suave and teacher has to be improvised on this aspect. Dr. Kiran gave an inspirational speech about education in today’s generation.

Along with the chief guest there was two other resource peopleMr.ShashankKarnam the Director and co-ordinator of Science utsav and Mr.SupreethKittenkereshowed some simple experiment for a complicated topics and also gave us an innovative ideas to make science a fun learning subject.

As the representatives of the school Principal Rev. Sis.MarianiBanu, Science co-ordinate Miss. Steffi Norris and the NIE in chargeMrs. Jacinthahave attended meeting and this meet was very much beneficial not only in academic but also in environmental issues, the experiments that were conducted in explaining the bernoulli’s experiment was very much interesting. From this we had got lots of ideas just by using just the house hold products.Lots of scientific concept can be explained through these experiments. Apart from academic we also got some idea for waste management, which can be implemented in our school without investments.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Every student must be in the college / school premises by 8:30 a.m. students ought to bring the hand-book everyday to school without fail.
  2. Every student must come to college / school in full uniform on all days including test and examination days. Exceptions to the wearing of the uniform may be made on the birthday of the pupil or on occasions specified by the Principal.
  3. On special days, when uniform is allowed, we expect the students to wear decent dresses, for modesty in appearance reflects the true personality of the institution.
  4. Hair and Nails must be neatly maintained and trimmed regularly. Use of mobile phone is strictly banned in the college premises.
  5. Pupils should take care of their books and belongings. Students should be careful not to cause any damage in any way around the college premises for which they will hold the responsibility. Scribbling on the walls on furniture or floor is to be strictly avoided.
  6. Purchase of food articles from roadside vendors is prohibited. Strict action will be taken against the students having chewing gum in the college premises.
  7. All the students are expected to take part in the Co-curricular activities of the College / School as part of the education. Lunch should be brought by the students as they come to college so that they need not go out for lunch.
  8. Games and exercises are compulsory for all except in case of exemption by medical authority.
  9. Only English should be spoken in the campus in order to obtain a command over spoken English. Students are expected to complete their assignment and tasks allotted to them by the lectures / teachers.
  10. Tests and Examinations should be taken on the specified days. No separate test will be conducted for absentees.
  11. Going out for shopping or moving out doors on working days is strictly prohibited. 90% of attendance is mandatory to appear for the exam.
  12. Note books will be checked periodically. Students are responsible for submitting the note books in the specified time with proper maintenance. Strict action will be taken against the students who misbehave in the college / school premises.
  13. Students are not allowed inside the college / school campus without the ID Card.
  14. Boys are expected to have a regular haircut and punk hair styles are not allowed.
  15. Girls are expected to plait the hair neatly and applying lip stick and makeup is not allowed.

Attendance

  1. Students must be present in the college / school on the re-opening day and also the last day before the terminal holidays begin.
  2. Absence on the first day of a term or after festivals will be punishable and will not enter into the pupil’s record.
  3. All applications for leave should be made in writing with the signature of the parents or legal guardian of the pupil and should reach the Principal before the commencement of the class. Oral or phone message will not be accepted.
  4. No pupil may absent herself / himself without obtaining leave previously in writing. If for any grave reason, a pupil is absent without prior leave, on her return she must present a letter from her parents, stating the reason for absence and obtain permission before entering the class. For absence of more than five consecutive days the parents himself or herself must meet the principal with the pupil.
  5. Pupils, who attend the morning session, should obtain prior leave, on their own, if they intend to absent themselves in the afternoon. The letter of the parents is necessary for such leave.
  6. Absenting oneself for the sake of studying for examination is not permitted.
  7. Every student is expected to be present on important days of the college / school such as Annual Day, Sports Day, etc., to express the solidarity with the Alma Mater.

Conduct in the classroom

  1. At the first bell for forenoon session of the classes all must move towards the place of assembly and remain at the allotted place in order and silence. Each session begins and ends with a common prayer. A devout posture is expected from anyone during prayer.
  2. In the classroom, place is allotted to each pupil by the class teacher and no one may change it by himself / herself. Likewise no one may move from place to place or go out of the classroom without permission.
  3. When teachers or persons to whom respect is due enter the class or leave the class, the pupils are required to stand up spontaneously and greet them respectfully.
  4. Silence is very conducive to quiet reflections and study both for oneself and others. Hence, if anyone wants to discuss matters of study, the permission of the supervising teacher is necessary.
  5. Loud clapping of hands or yelling or any disturbance to other classes is not permitted.
  6. No presentations of gifts either by pupils or parents to teachers, or any demonstrations of any sort towards the teachers are done without the permission of the Principal.
  7. It is not advisable for students to bring money or valuable articles to the college / schools.
  8. Regularity in Home work is very important.

Examinations

Every year four terminal examinations will be held.

Besides these, monthly tests, mid-term tests and preparatory exams also are conducted.

The marks secured in all these examinations will be entered in the progress reports.

Students enlighten themselves with a great knowledge by developing their study habits sincerely and securing a good percentage of marks in all the examinations.

Students are not allowed to lend or borrow things such as geometry box. Pencil, eraser and pen inside the examination hall.

Parents – Teachers Association

All the parents and teachers of St. Antony’s are members of this association.

We take a special interest in our students by conducting Parents Teachers Meet, grading the classes into various levels. Valuable suggestions from parents are needed to and possible steps are needed to improve the progress of our students. After the examinations progress cards are distributed to the parents in person, apart from these, awareness and guidance sessions are conducted for parents, and students to meet the growing needs of their children in various aspects.

A Word to Parents

  1. Time: 9:00 – 11:30 all working days. We believe in the dictum that the parents are the First Teachers and the teachers are the second parents.
  2. Your co-operation with the management and staff regarding discipline and regularity in Home work will be highly appreciated.
  3. You ought to remember that making your son / daughter take leave or being absent for many days continuously for reasons such as visiting various places or attending marriage when the college / school is working may disrupt the education of your children.
  4. Except sick leave, for all the other occasions prior permission should be got from the Principal. If PU students and X extend the leave for more than two days, proper Medical Certificate should be produced by the parents in person.
  5. Make it a point that your son / daughter do not leave on working days, unless he / she is sick.
  6. You are reminded of your son’s / daughter’s progress for about six times in a year and your signature is obtained, if the progress or improvement is not satisfactory, we expect you to meet either the Principal or the Class Teacher.
  7. We will be arranging parents – teachers meeting to discuss openly your views regarding the education of your ward; you are free to give your suggestion for the progress of the college / school.
  8. Parents of the catholic students should encourage their children to participate fully in Catechism classes, yearly retreat and services.
  9. The fees as to be paid in the Guardian Bank extensive counter on the specified date without fail.
    1st term fee March / April 2015 – Before June 10th 2015
    2st term fee Before August 10th 2015
    3rd term fee Before November 10th 2015
    4th term fee Before January 10th 2016
    A late fee of Rs. 50/- for payment of fees.
  10. Parents are requested to come to the office only during office hours.
  11. Parents are requested to discourage their children using flowers, nail polish and gold ornaments.
  12. Go through your child’s diary daily to check whether there is a message for you and counter sign it.
  13. Keep in touch with the day-to-day progress of your child and discuss it with the Principal regularly at the appointed hours.
  14. Criticism of a student’s teacher of the college / school in the presence of the child should be avoided because it may cause the student to lose respect for the teacher and the college / school.
  15. The teachers do not take tuitions for their own class students or others. So, do not force them to teach your wards privately.
  16. Kindly inform college / school, of any change in address or contact number.
  17. Parents and guardians are requested not to meet the children or the teachers during the class hours.
  18. Parents are expected to come without fail for the open days to meet the teacher and check the academic progress of the child.
  19. As education is primarily the responsibility of parents, they are expected to co-operate with the college / school community with reward to pupil’s integral growth. Therefore parents are requested to follow up the child in her process of growth and maintain a cordial co-operative relationship with the college / school authorities. Hence, every parent is expected to attend the formative meeting and respond whole heartedly the disciplinary rules of the college / school.
  20. The entrusting of a pupil to the college / school implies that the parents agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the college / school. Parents should see that their children prepare home lessons properly and devote at least 2 to 3 hours in the evening to their studies.

Guidelines for Students

  1. Read the school diary carefully and bring it to college / school every day. Make a note of anything that is important in it.
  2. This is your college / school. Keep it clean and tidy so that you and others may be proud of it.
  3. Converse only in English. Encourage your friends to do the same.
  4. Aim at full attendance and unfailing punctuality.
  5. Inculcate good values and imbibe good qualities of politeness, honesty and sincerity.
  6. Work hard and excel in your field. Your parents and nation expect a lot from you.
  7. Do not leave the class room college or school compound without prior permission.
  8. Always behave in such a way that your parents and teachers feel proud of you.
  9. ake care of the college / school property. This is your second home.
  10. Read good books and cultivate good manners.
  11. Be systematic and meticulous in everything you do.
  12. Mark out a schedule, allotting time for work, study as well as play.
  13. Read the newspaper daily. It will make you socially aware of what is happening around you.
  14. Never give up till you succeed. Untiring effort is what needed in the highly competitive world today.
  15. Each one of us has been created for a definite purpose. So identify your latent talents or interests and develop them relentlessly.
  16. Keep your voice low during conversation. People will listen to you more.

Children are being given admissions on certain criteria, where age is considered as a very important factor. All the children are given an entrance exam before finalizing their admissions in our school. This year more than 20-25 students were given new admissions in the 8th and 9th std. These students have joined our school from many different schools that are in the nearby locality.

Cultural Day
“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” ‘SYNCHRONACHE’ – it is the feast which means putting all the talents together. It cultural fest held on August 12 &13 . The celebration was inaugurated by Fr. UdayKumar , Manager and Correspondent.
12 August: Dumb charade, Rangoli, Vegetable carving, flower arrangement, origami, fireless cooking, clay modeling etc.
13 August : Group dance, group singing, Solo dance, Solo singing, fancy dress etc.

NIE Aptitude Test
August 21- NIE Aptitude Test (Thinking and learning) conducted. Rohit R from IX std received a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 for his achievement in the aptitude test.
